Rexburg Family Crisis Center preventing abuse of all kinds
REXBURG – The Family Crisis Center is one of the Upper Valley’s safety nets that often goes unnoticed. But if it wasn’t for them, families would often fall through the cracks. The Family Crisis Center helps victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and family trauma. “Those victims or those clients know they have a place to go to. That they have someone who can listen to their needs and provide the resources that they need,” said Alesa Gulley with the Family Crisis Center. Resources that come from federal grants, and charity. Coming up Saturday, there’s a 5k run sponsored by the Rexburg Women’s Clinic to raise funds for the Family Crisis Center. “We wanted the family involvement in it,” said Mala Anderson a nurse at the Women’s Clinic. “It’s not just money to help run your business, is it? It’s money that will help families?” I asked. “The money we receive directly impacts the families on an individual basis. We’re able to turn around and help women who leave homes with absolutely nothing, and help them setup new homes. And empower them on personal basis. It really does change and impact women and children’s lives, day by day, hour by hour, and for a lifetime,” said Gulley. The Family Crisis Center just added food to their program about two months ago. They have everything from pineapple to artichokes. Quite a bit of food to help out those in need.
